ARE VIDEO GAMES A SIN?

Gaming can bring people together, but can it bring you farther from God?

Welcome back to episode #17 of Minute Wisdom Monday's (MWM) where we cover one topic relating to Christianity to level up your relationship with Him—but just a 1 minute long read! Let's go!

There's nothing like that feeling of winning is there? The feeling that makes you excited, and maybe even desire to win more. Gaming can be very fun at times, but is it a sin?

The Bible tells us very clearly all throughout scripture to "have no other gods before me". This scripture is first found in Exodus chapter 20 as the first commandment, however the theme is repeated all throughout the Bible. We also see in the Book of Matthew the following: "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other." At the end of the day, it all boils down to this fact: are you obsessing and spending too much time over it?

That principal talked about above can be applied to everything in our lives: We should have no other gods but the one true God.
There is nothing inherently wrong with gaming, but if it's making us fall into sin, or we are worshiping it; then it's something that we should cut out of our lives.

Maybe you have worshiped video games before in your life and put them on his pedestal rather than God. But now there's only one thing you can do—it's to repent and confess your sins. Proverbs 28:13 gives us a clear outline of what this process looks like: "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy."
